Digital Personal Data Protection Bill receives President’s assent

The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023 has received the assent of President Draupadi Murmu. The bill, which is now an Act, was passed by the Lok Sabha on August 7, 2023, and by the Rajya Sabha on August 9, 2023. The government will initiate the framing and rolling out of rules and regulations of the Act, which is likely to be done within the next 6-10 months.
