Datia Airport foundation stone laid

The foundation stone for the Datia Airport, Madhya Pradesh, was laid on Au­gust 21, 2023. The airport is expected to be completed by February 2024. It entails an investment of around Rs 500 million. Developments include renovating the existing 1,810-metre runway, construction of an apron that can house two 19-seater aircraft, a terminal building of 750 sq. m that can accommodate 100 passengers at peak hours and an air traffic control tower. The airport aims to enhance regional connectivity as part of the Regional Connectivity Scheme Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (RCS UDAN). After completion, flights connecting Khajuraho and Bhopal, which were already awarded under RCS UDAN, will become operational. The state has a current weekly aircraft movement of 956, which is around a 72.5 per cent jump compared to 554 in 2021, and an 89 per cent jump compared to 506 in 2014.
