Coal ministry to invest in rail development

The Ministry of Coal is working on the National Coal Logistic Plan to strengthen the country’s energy security and support the vision of a self-reliant nation. To this end, it announced plans to invest Rs 260 billion in railway projects. The aim is to establish a comprehensive multi-modal connectivity. The projects will focus on the integration of first mile connectivity through strategically positioned railway sidings near coal mines. At present, there are 67 ongoing first-mile connectivity projects that will enhance the capacity by 885 mt.
