CMRL completes feasibility survey for Salem MRTS project

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has completed the feasibility survey for the Salem Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) project. Additionally, it is likely to submit the detailed feasibility report to the Government of Tamil Nadu soon. CMRL appointed Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers and Consultants Private Limited to conduct the feasibility study of the project at an estimated cost of Rs 380 million. CMRL proposes to implement the project in two routes spanning 40 km. One route will be set up between Karuppur and Nalikkalpatty, covering Mamangam, Salem railway junction, four roads, district collectorate, old bus stand, Gugai and Dasanaicken­patty areas. The second route will be set up between Ayothiyapattinam and Uthamacholapuram, covering Maniyanur, Ammapet and Udayapatty areas in Salem city, Tamil Nadu.
