80 per cent work completed on Mumbai-Pune Expressway Augmentation Project

Approximately 80 per cent of work has been completed on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway Augmentation Project. It is likely to finish by September 2024. The project, approved in December 2013, includes the construction of a missing link of 13.3 km on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and capacity augmentation of the existing 6.5 km long stretch from the Khalapur Toll Plaza to Khopoli exit (Sinhgad Institute) on the Yashwantrao Chavan Expre­ssway. It entailed an investment of Rs 66.95 billion. The scope of work also includes the construction of 23.75-metre-wide twin tunnels, two viaducts and two horizontal shafts.
