Foundation stone laid for Perur desalination plant

The government of Tamil Nadu laid the foundation stone for the largest desalination plant in Southeast Asia at Perur in Tamil Nadu on August 21, 2023. The plant is planned to have a capacity of 400 mld. It is being set up with the assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency at a cost of Rs 42.76 billion. It is planned to be completed by December 2026 and will make use of technologically advanced water treatment systems such as dissolved air flotation and dual media filtration.
