Jal Jeevan Mission

  • Of the total 192.4 million rural households in India, 128.84 million have tap water connections. Of these, about 60 per cent were provided connections after the launch of the Jal Jeevan Mission. The fund allocation to the scheme under Budget 2023-24 stood at Rs 700 billion, seven times higher than that in 2019-20.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Namami Gange Programme 

  • The Namami Gange Programme, or the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), was launched in June 2014 to rejuvenate the River Ganga and its tributaries. Initially launched for a period up to March 2021, the timeline has subsequently been extended to March 2026. The project portfolio has grown from 86 sanctioned projects in FY2015 to 442 in FY2024 (as of June 2023). Of these, 254 projects have been completed.
