Lending landscape
- Bank credit to the infrastructure sector has grown at a CAGR of 12.4 per cent during 2007-23. Although there was a dip in lending to the sector during 2016-18, it has been on an upward trend since.
- Segment-wise, bank credit to the road sector has grown at a CAGR of 14 per cent during 2007-23, power has grown at 12.3 per cent and telecom at 9.91 per cent.
Capital market activity
- The infrastructure sector has seen limited initial public offerings (IPOs). During the period 2010-23, issuances peaked in 2010-11, led by power sector IPOs.
- In a first, two infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) launched public issues, driving IPO activity in 2017-18.
