Growing private equity investment
- Over the years, private equity investors have grown in size and capacity, making strategic, controlled investments. With greater risk-taking appetite, the investments have been geared more towards growth capital.
- Sectors such as renewables, roads and logistics have generated significant interest among private equity investors, constituting over 50 per cent of the total number of deals during 2007-23.
Foreign funds inflow
- Over the years, there has been an influx of foreign capital into the infrastructure sector, the highest being witnessed in 2017-18 at $13.5 billion.
- With the government permitting 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) across most infrastructure sectors, several foreign companies have entered the Indian market to capitalise on the sector’s growth.
