NHAI is set to initiate the third phase of highway monetisation through the National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT) in September 2023. Currently, participation in InvIT units is limited to institutional investors. The upcoming third InvIT round targets the monetisation of six stretches encompassing 635 km of highways, with an estimated value of Rs 70 billion-80 billion. Originally planned for March, this transaction was delayed due to new taxation regulations proposed in the current year’s budget. The rules’ clarity emerged around March-end, necessitating a reschedule in 2023-24. NHAI aspires to generate approximately Rs 150 billion through InvIT monetisation in 2023-24.
