DPA, DP World sign concession agreement for Mega Container Terminal Project at Tuna-Tekra in Gujarat

The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) and DP World Limited have signed a concession agreement for development of the mega container terminal project at Tuna-Tekra in Kandla Port in Gujarat. The contract for the same was awarded in January 2023. The project involves development of a container terminal at Tuna Tekra in the state, on the build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis under PPP mode at an estimated cost of Rs 42.44 billion for a concession period of 30 years. The capacity of the terminal will be 2.19 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The berth shall be designed for handling vessels of up to 6,000 TEUs and up to 14 metre draft. The construction period for the project is 36 months.
