PMC approves Phase II of Pune Metro Rail Project

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved the Phase II of the Pune Metro Rail Project on August 4, 2023. The project will involve development of the following stretches: Vanaz to Chandni chowk route of 1.112 km and Ramwadi to Wagholi route of 11.633 km at an estimated cost of Rs 36.09 billion for which Rs 18.95 billion, loan is likely to be raised by Maha-Metro while Union and State Government will also contribute towards the project. Khadakwasla to Kharadi via Swargate and Hadapsar metro rail route (25.862 km), Pau dphata to Manikbaug via Warje route (6.118 km) at an estimated cost of Rs 90.74 billion. Maha Metro is likely to raise a loan of Rs 43.54 billion, while the remaining expense will be shared by the Union Government, Government of Maharashtra and PMC. The project will be implemented by Maha-Metro.
