DTEPA grants NOC for development of Vadhavan Satellite Port Project in Maharashtra

Dahanu Taluka Environment Protection Authority (DTEPA) has granted a no objection certificate for the development of the Vadhavan Satellite Port project (Dahanu/Wadhwan Port). The project involves development of an all-weather port at Vadhavan in Mumbai,Maharashtra. The port will be developed as a landlord port. A special purpose vehicle will be formed by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust as the lead partner with equity participation of 74 per cent and Maharashtra Maritime Board with 26 per cent of equity to implement the project. The capacity and estimated cost of the project are 254 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) including 9.87 million twenty-foot equivalent units and Rs 738.94 billion respectively. As the landlord port, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority is expected to invest funds worth Rs 422.66 billion to construct basic infrastructure such as breakwater, dredging, reclamation, land acquisition, rail line/yard, and road connectivity, power and water line, internal roads and common amenities. The appointed private firm is expected to invest funds worth Rs 151.57 billion and Rs 164.71 billion in the first and second phases respectively for setting up cargo handling facilities.
