Indian Railways (IR) has recorded 507.7 million tonnes (mt) freight loading in the April-July period of 2023-24, an increase of 1.23 per cent higher than the freight loading in the corresponding period in 2022-23 (501.55 mt). In the said period, the freight earnings stood at Rs 554.59 billion against Rs 537.31 billion in the corresponding period of 2022-23, which is an improvement of 3.22 per cent as compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, in the April-July period of 2023-24, IR’s total earning has been approximately Rs 808.69 billion (including coaching, goods, sundry, other coaching earnings) against Rs 758.47 billion over the corresponding period in 2022-23, an improvement of 6.62 per cent. During the month of July 2023, originating freight loading of stood at 123.98 mt while freight revenue of Rs. 135.78 billion have been achieved in July 2023.
