According to the Ministry of Railways (MoR), as of April 1, 2023, a total of 251 railway projects (76 new line, 19 gauge conversion, 156 doubling) are under various stages of implementation (planning, approved, under construction). The total length covered by these projects stands at 29,147 km. They entail an investment of nearly Rs 4.92 trillion. Of this, 9,910 km track length at been commissioned at an investment of Rs 2.45 trillion (upto March 2023). Meanwhile, of the 2,843 km length under the dedicated freight corridor (DFC), 2,196 km (1,150 km eastern DFC and 1,046 km western DFC) has been completed.
