On July 14, 2023, Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) launched a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder carrier ship for Lakshadweep. The vessel will transport 60 tonnes of packed petroleum products from the mainland to the Lakshadweep islands. It is capable of operating 11 knots with an endurance of 10 days at sea and can carry a crew of 18 personnel board. It was designed and built under the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) Class meeting merchant shipping rules and regulations.
