92 per cent of the construction work of the new terminal building of Pune International Airport in Lohegaon, Maharashtra has been completed and is planned to be inaugurated in September 2023. The construction work on the final phase of the new terminal building has started and the flight trials will commence in August 2023. The building will be spread over an area of 0.75 million square feet. The work on the new terminal building started in 2018 with a budget of Rs 4.75 billion. The passenger handling capacity of the building will be 16 million passengers per annum which will lower the problem of crowding at the airport. Along with this, the facility will also be equipped with an in-line baggage handling system, 10 aerobridges, and 72 check-in counters.
