The consortium of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and BP Exploration (Alpha) Limited (BP) has commenced natural gas production from its deepwater MJ gas condensate field at KG-DWN-98/3 (KG-D6) block, Bay of Bengal. MJ is a high pressure and high temperature, gas and condensate field. The field will produce from eight wells and reach a peak gas production of around 12 million standard cubic meters per day (mscmd) gas and 25,000 barrels of condensate per day. Besides, the consortium will be using a floating storage production and offloading unit (FSPO) at the Bay of Bengal to commence production from its deepest gas discovery. Moreover, the block also possesses oil deposits which will be produced later using the FPSO. RIL and BP are developing three deep water gas discoveries at KG-D6 block- R-Cluster, Satellite cluster and MJ. The R-Cluster and Satellite cluster commenced production in December 2020 and April 2021, respectively.
