The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the construction of eight sewerage treatment plants (STPs) in newly merged villages of PMC in Maharashtra on June 23, 2023. IFC will act as an adviser for PMC, it will survey sites across the city and provide guidance to PMC to initiate the project. The scope of the project includes the construction of eight STPs, a sewerage line of 204 km and 15,000 chambers in Manjari, Mhlaunge, Nanded, Holkarwadi, Pisoli, Gujar, Nimbalarwadi and Wagholi at an estimated cost of Rs 10 billion.
