MoHUA approves Tricity Metro Project

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved of the Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali (Tricity) Metro Project. Moreover, RITES Limited has been appointed for the preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for further consideration of funds.
The project involves the development of 39 km long metro rail transit system connecting Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali at an estimated cost of Rs 105.70 billion. The project will be implemented in two phases.
Phase I (2027-2037) will include three stretches: Sarangpur to ISBT Panchkula (18 km), Rock Garden to ISBT Zirakpur (35 km), and Grain Market Chowk to Transport Nagar (13 km)
Phase II (2037 onwards) will include four stretches: ISBT Panchkula to Panchkula Extension (4.5 km), Parul to Sarangpur (5.5 km), Airport Chowk to Manakpur Kallar (5 km) and ISBT Zirakpur to Pinjore (20km).
