Government floats draft National Strategy for Cruise Tourism

As per the draft National Strategy for Cruise Tourism released by the government, the National Cruise Tourism Board would be set up to coordinate efforts, integrate India’s destinations with cruise tourism, attract investment and facilitate the development of cruise terminals, infrastructure, and services. Additionally, the government will engage with stakeholders, conduct familiarisation trips, and leverage local culture and celebrities to promote coastal and river destinations. Besides, an online marketplace will be developed for cruise bookings and reservations. Moreover, the Ministry of Tourism has proposed to target 1,000 world class vessels and an annual footfall of a million for international cruises.
