A self-baggage drop facility has been launched at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) and the GMR Hyderabad International Airport. This facility will reduce the waiting time by 15 to 20 minutes and make the security screening process faster and easier. Currently, IndiGo flyers have been using this facility and will be soon available for other airlines like Air India, Vistara, etc. The flyers have to follow a two-step process without any requirement of separate registration for using this facility. A total of 14 self-baggage drop machines comprising 12 fully automated machines and 2 hybrid machines have been installed at IGIA with a calibrated weight of each machine set at 120 kilograms for the process and serving around three passengers per minute. Furthermore, the GMR Hyderabad International Airport has launched this facility by installing a total of 8 fully automated self-baggage machines which are equipped with scanners, scales and sensors that enables the process completion in a minimal time of 45 to 60 seconds.
