The Andhra Pradesh government laid the foundation stone for the Machilipatnam port project on May 22, 2023. Environmental and pollution clearances were granted on February 28, 2023 and April 13, 2023 respectively. The land acquisition process was completed in March 2023, entailing an investment of Rs 17.94 billion. The estimated cost and capacity of the project are Rs 51.56 billion and 35 mtpa respectively.
