IR hands over 20 BG locomotives to Bangladesh

In order to strengthen bilateral relations, India has successfully handed over 20 broad gauge (BG) locomotives to Bangladesh. In line with the requirements of Bangladesh Railways, the locomotives have been modified by India. With this, Bangladesh is better equipped to handle the increasing volume of passenger and freight train operations in the country. Earlier, 10 BG diesel locomotives were handed over to Bangla­desh on a grant basis in July 2020. Reportedly, these locomotives are performing well and contributing to the smooth movement of rail traffic in Bangladesh.
