Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to set up four sewage treatment plants (STP) at an estimated cost of Rs 40 million between Mahalaxmi and Nepean Sea Road in South Mumbai where the Mumbai Coastal Road project is being built. The largest of these four STPs will be built at Markandeshwar Nulla near Atria Mall with a capacity to treat 300 kld of sewage. The other STPs include a 100 kld capacity to be built at Darya Nagar near Mahalaxmi Temple, a 50 kld STP near Jindal Bungalow at Nepean Sea Road and a 35 kld STP near the Darya Sagar slums.
