CERC issues draft CERC (Sharing of Inter-State Transmission Charges and Losses) (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2023

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued the draft CERC (Sharing of Inter-State Transmission Charges and Losses) (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2023. As per the draft, the percentage of yearly transmission charges will be 30 per cent or more in accordance with subclause (a) of clause (1) of Regulation 6 of these regulations. Further, where an inter-regional high voltage direct current transmission system planned to supply power to a particular region is operated to carry power in reverse direction due to system requirements, the percentage yearly transmission charges of such transmission system to be considered in the regional component and the national component will be calculated as per the formula given in the amendment. The CERC has sought comments on the draft by July 12, 2023.
