Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced expansion plans worth Rs 490 billion at the Bina refinery. It involves the establishment of an ethylene cracker project, including downstream petrochemical plants and capacity expansion of the Bina refinery from 7.8 mtpa to 11 mtpa. While the former will meet the growing domestic demand for petrochemical products, the capacity expansion of the Bina refinery will cater to the growing demand for petroleum products in the central and northern parts of India.
