Last Ten Years…PLF and installed capacity

The national plant load factor (PLF) increased from 58.9 per cent in 2021-22 to 64.2 per cent in 2022-23. The PLF stood at 74.7 per cent, 61.9 per cent and 56.6 per cent across the central, state and private sectors, respectively, during 2022-23.

As of March 2023, the total installed power generation capacity stood at 416 GW. Thermal capacity accounted for the largest share of 57 per cent, followed by renewable, hydel and nuclear power. In terms of sectors, the private sector dominated with a 51 per cent share, followed by the state (25 per cent) and central (24 per cent) sectors
