The first land port of Uttar Pradesh at Rupaidiha in Bahraich district was virtually inaugurated on June 2, 2023. Built on 115 acres of land, the Rupaidiha Land Port was established at a cost about Rs 2 billion. This land port will further strengthen the business relationship between India and Nepal. The volume of trade is expected to go up significantly with the number of trucks passing through this border daily set to increase from 200 to at least 300. The port has passenger and cargo terminals, quarantine blocks, a warehouse, washrooms, canteen, sewage treatment plant and an underground water tank. Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board will operate the port in Nepal while the Land Ports Authority of India will manage it in India.
