EOGEPL announces collaboration with Sensia for digitalisation of oil and gas field operations

In order to enhance its operational efficiencies, Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Limited (EOGEPL) has announced its collaboration with Sensia for the digitalisation of oil and gas field operations. The collaboration aims to unify measurement systems, optimise decision making and enabling remote control of critical parameters across EOGEPL’s wells, facilities and customer interface by deploying Sensia’s Avalon digital platform interface. The platform offers a comprehensive interface enabling real time data acquisition of essential parameters. EOGEPL has invested Rs 50 billion in drilling 350 wells for exploration activities at Raniganj’s coal bed methane block in West Bengal. Besides, it is likely to allocate Rs 20 billion for drilling 200 additional wells in the next 18-24 months. Moreover, EOGEPL has deployed latest technology in the existing wells to increase the production from 0.9 million standard cubic metres per day (mscmd) to 1.3 mscmd and has made notable progress in the real time monitoring of the existing wells and is currently in process of monitoring 200 additional wells.
