India hands over 20 locomotive to Bangladesh

In order to strengthen bilateral relations, India has successfully handed over 20 broad gauge locomotives to Bangladesh. Keeping in line with the requirements of Bangladesh Railway, the locomotives have been suitably modified by India. With this, Bangladesh is better equipped to handle the increasing volume of passenger and freight train operations in the country. Earlier, 10 broad gauge diesel locomotives were handed over to Bangladesh on grant basis in July 2020. Reportedly, these locomotives are performing well and contributing to the smooth movement of rail traffic in Bangladesh.
