The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has announced five major initiatives (Panch Karma Sankalp), which focuses on green shipping and digitisation of the ports to make India a global leader in the maritime sector. These initiatives include provision of 30 per cent financial support for promoting green shipping. The Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP), V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Paradip Port and Deendayal Port, Kandla Port will procure two tugs each under the Green Tug Transition Programme. Besides, Deendayal Port and V.O. Chidambaranar Port will be developed as green hydrogen hubs and JNP and V.O. Chidambaranar Port will become smart port by 2024. Additionally, single window portal will be designed to facilitate and monitor river and sea cruises.
