Two taxiways opened at Chennai International Airport

Two taxiways have been opened at the Chennai International Airport for the reduction of congestion at the airport entry. A rapid exit taxiway and a link taxiway have been commissioned by the Airports Authority of India which will reduce peak hour congestion and delay of flights at the airport. The peak hour flight handling capacity of the airport is expected to increase from 36 flights per hour to 45 flights per hour since air passenger traffic and aircraft movement have crossed the pre-Covid levels. This new facility will ultimately reduce runway occupancy time for arriving flights on the main runway while also increasing the overall runway throughout. The newly commissioned link taxiway length is 150.93 m which further will lead to an additional entry of flights and exit to the main apron.
