MoHUA and MoR to collaborate with JICA for station redevelopment

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Ministry of Railways (MoR) jointly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Station Area Development along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail (HSR) corridor project. The MoU was signed for four stations viz. Sabarmati and Surat in Gujarat and Virar and Thane in Maharashtra. The project involves development of a 508 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR corridor in Maharashtra and Gujarat respectively with an investment of Rs 1,080 billion.
