Work begins at Bhogapuram greenfield international airport

The foundation stone for the Bhogapuram greenfield international airport was laid on May 3, 2023. The total cost of the airport is Rs 45.92 billion. It will focus on the overall development of the north Andhra Pradesh re­gion. The airport will commence its services for 4 million passengers initially and will later be expanded to serve 40 million passengers. Cons­truction work at the airport has been taken up by the GMR Group and is expected to be completed in two years. Reportedly, the airport will have two runways capable of handling the Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft. It will also include a cargo complex, an aviation academy and an aerocity serving the region.
