The construction work on the Khadakwasla dam- Fursungi water tunnel in Pune is likely to commence from March 2024. The proposed tunnel will be 7.8 m wide, 3.9 m high and 1.95 m circular in height. It will take water from Khadakwasla to Fursungi village by gravity, which will increase the canal capacity to 1,510 cusecs preventing water pollution, leakage and evaporation. It will save up to 2.5 thousand million cubic feet of water. The tunnel will ensure a regular water supply for the city throughout the year.
