Targets of 100 per cent green energy use and net zero for airports set by AAI

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has set a target for most airports to achieve 100 per cent green energy use by 2024 and net zero by 2030. At present, Mumbai, Cochin and 25 other AAI airports are using 100 per cent green energy. These 25 airports include Puducherry, Kanpur (Civil), Hubballi, Belagavi, Mysore, Tezu, Kangra, Shimla and Kullu. The Cochin Airport was the first green airport in the world to be fully powered by solar energy, while Delhi and Mumbai airports have received Level 4+ Airport Carbon Accreditation by the Airports Council International. Only three airports in Asia Pacific have achieved this milestone, as of March 2023.
