Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) is aiming to produce 55,000 wheels in 2023-24 to meet the demand from IR. Visakhapatnam-based RINL has set up a forged wheel plant at Lalganj in Uttar Pradesh. It is expected to entail an investment of Rs 23.5 billion and have the capacity to manufacture 0.1 million forged wheels per annum. RINL has supplied 2,465 locomotive wheels and 2,639 LHB wheels to the railways in 2022-23. The Preliminary Acceptance Certificate has been issued for the plant.
