Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) won the contract for Package CP20.1-PS-06 under Corridor III and V of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase-II on April 25, 2023. Bids for the same were invited by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) in October 2021.
Package CP20.1-PS-06 involves design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, training and commissioning of receiving sub-stations (RSS), auxiliary substation (ASS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) for Corridor 3 (from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur) and Corridor 5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to CMBT, including Depot at Madhavaram).
The work is likely to be completed in 1,630 days with defects notification period (DNP) of 730 days.
The project involves development of 118.9-km three metro corridors (Corridor III, IV and V) in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu. It is mostly underground with elevated section confined to few short stretches and consists of 128 stations in total. The work on Corridors I and II have been completed under Chennai metro Phase-I.
