DP World inaugurates Mundra-Ahmedabad Inland Terminal Port Rail Connectivity Project, Gujarat

DP World has inaugurated the Mundra-Ahmedabad inland terminal port rail connectivity project in Gujarat. The train was flagged off from Mundra in early-April 2023 in full payload. The project aims to boost the connectivity between Mundra Port and Ahmedabad inland terminal which is situated about 40 km from Ahmedabad, and has a container handling capacity of more than 100,000 twenty equipment units. Apart from the improved connectivity, the train service will drive better efficiency and significantly lower the overall logistics cost for cargo movement on the route even with fewer rakes. This will be affected by the lower haulage rates and lesser or zero port ground rent as a result of the faster evacuation of containers from the port. Further, the new service will boost cargo carrying capacity substantially, and open new markets for micro, small and medium enterprises in the state, based on the availability of integrated multimodal logistics infrastructure.
