Madhya Pradesh achieves 100 per cent electrification of rail network

In an important development, 100 per cent electrification of all railway network in Madhya Pradesh has been achieved. This development is expected to reduce average carbon footprint by 192,446 metric tons per year along with savings of 72,167 kiloliters of diesel on an average per year. Railway lines of more than 4,800 route kilometers were electrified in Madhya Pradesh. Reportedly, electric locomotives will increase the carrying capacity of high carrying capacity freight trains and long-distance passenger trainsApart from this, various railway projects with investments of around Rs 23.23 billion have been inaugurated. The foundation stone for redevelopment of Gwalior railway station has also been laid.
