Government offers concessional rates to attract tariffs

In an important development, the Centre has offered concessional rates to attract unconventional traffic on the IR network. This is being done with view to make the roll on roll off (Ro-Ro) or Trucks on Train (ToT) service more lucrative. Reportedly, the movement of trucks on the New Palanpur and New Rewari Section of the dedicated freight corridor (DFC), roughly 640 kilometres, has been permitted under the new rates. The new rates are permitted on experimental basis from April 22, 2023 to October 31, 2023.
