States approve CMP report for Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali

The Government of Punjab and Haryana and Union Territory (UT) Administration approved the comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) for Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali on April 19, 2023. Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) Limited had prepared the CMP.

The project involves the development of a metro/metrolite project connecting the cities of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. The project will be implemented in three phases. Phase I will include three stretches: Sarangpur to Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) Panchkula (18 km), Rock Garden to ISBT Zirakpur (35 km), and Grain Market Chowk to Transport Chowk (13 km). Phase II will include four stretches: ISBT Panchkula to Panchkula Extension (4.5 km), Parul to Sarangpur (5.5 km), Airport Chowk to Manakpur Kallar (5 km). ISBT Zirakpur to Pinjore (20km).
