Around 80 per cent and 40 per cent of the construction work has been completed at the Okhla sewage treatment plant (STP) and Sonia Vihar STP, respectively. They are being built by the central government and Delhi Jal Board. Okhla STP is planned to treat 564 million litres per day (mld) of wastewater under the Yamuna Action Plan-III while Sonia Vihar STP will treat around 26 mld. Okhla STP is targeted to be completed by June 2023 and is aimed at achieving biological oxygen demand of 10 mg per litre of effluent. The National Mission for Clean Ganga is involved in the implementation of this project.
