TRAI issues directions to access service providers to reverify registered templates and curb unauthorised promotions

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued two separate directions to access service providers under the Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations, 2018, and the TRAI Act, 1997. The move is aimed at ensuring that all promotional messages are sent through registered telemarketers using approved headers and message templates on a distributed ledger technologies platform, and stopping the misuse of headers and message templates.
