Punjab inaugurates biggest STP in the state

The Punjab government inaugurated the biggest STP in the state on February 20, 2023, along with other projects for the cleaning and rejuvenation of the Buddha Nullah drain, estimated to cost Rs 3.15 billion. The STP, with a capacity of 225 million litres per day, will be vital in the cleaning of the Buddha Nullah in the city. It will act as a catalyst for as­sessing the water pollution in the Nullah. Since 14 km of the Nullah falls within the city, a detailed project worth Rs 6.5 billion has been envisaged for its cleaning under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation and the Smart Cities Mission. Of the total amount, Rs 3.92 billion is being contributed by the state government and Rs 2.58 billion by the central government.
