IR’s passenger segment witnesses 73 per cent hike

The total approximate earnings in IR’s passenger segment on originating basis during April 2022-January 2023 was Rs. 547.33 billion, an increase of 73 per cent from the Rs 316.34 billion earned during the sa­me period in 2021-22. In the reserved passenger segment, the approximate number of passengers booked during the period April 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023 was 659 million, as compared to 618.1 million during the same period in 2021-22, marking an increase of 7 per cent. The revenue generated from the reserved passenger segment during this period was Rs 429.45 billion as compared to Rs 290.79 billion during the sa­me period in 2021-22, registering an increase of 48 per cent. In the unreserved pa­ssenger segment, the total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period April 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023 stood at 4,518 million as compared to 1,978.5 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 128 per cent. The revenue generated from the unreserved passenger segment during the said period was Rs 117.88 billion as compared to Rs 25.55 billion during the same period last year, showing an increase of 361 per cent.
