Lucknow Airport’s capacity expansion project gets approval from MoEFCC

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) granted approval for the Lucknow airport capacity expansion project on Dec­em­ber 15, 2022. The project involves works required for relocation, impro­ve­ment, modification/upgradation/augmentation, and modernisation of existing airside/landside facilities and infrastructure. It also includes meeting operational safety requirements to augment the required infrastructure to a capacity of 39 million passengers per annum and cargo capacity to 0.25 million tonnes per annum (mpta) in Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 107 billion. It involves the modification of the under-construction terminal (T3) and construction of a new terminal, T4, while T1 and T2 will be demolished upon commencement of operations in T3.
