IR’s passenger segment revenue registers an increase of 71 per cent

The total approximate earnings of IR in the passenger segment stood at Rs 489.13 billion during April-December 2022 on an originating basis, registering an increase of 71 per cent from the Rs 285.69 billion achieved during the corresponding period in 2021. In the reserved passenger segment, the approximate number of passengers booked during the period April 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 was 596.1 million as against 560.5 million during the same period in 2021, registering an increase of 6 per cent. The revenue generated from the reserved passenger segment during this period was Rs 384.83 billion, a 46 per cent increase over the previous year (Rs 264 billion). Meanwhile, in the unreserved passenger segment, the total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April-December 2022 was 4,019.7 million as compared to 1,696.8 million during the same period in 2021, marking an increase of 137 per cent. The revenue generated from the unreserved passenger segment during the said period was Rs 104.3 billion, up from Rs 21.69 billion during the same period last year, registering an increase of 381 per cent.
