IR’s freight loading crosses 1,100 mt mark

Indian Railways’ (IR) freight loading for the April-December 2022 period has surpassed the previous year’s loading and earnings for the corresponding period. During April-December 2022, IR’s freight loading stood at 1,109.38 mt, 8 per cent higher than the freight loading in the corresponding period last year (1,029.96 mt). On the revenue front, the freight earnings for in April-December 2021 period stood at Rs 1,204.78 billion, registering a growth of 16 per cent as compared to the earnings in April-December 2021 period (Rs 1,040.4 billion). During Dec­ember 2022, the originating freight loading of 130.66 mt has been achieved against a loading of 126.8 mt in December 2021, registering a growth of 3 per cent. Freight revenue of Rs 145.73 billion has been achieved, 13 per cent higher than the freight earnings in December 2021 (Rs 129.14 billion).
